Pretty Boy Leif is world famous. Everyone in Norwegian Elkhounds knows his name, his pups, his offspring are legends already. What most don’t know is that he was brought in as an outcross stud to “Preserve” ancient lineage Norwegian Elkhound bloodlines. Those bloodlines were in the Kamia Kennels foundation breeding females and other stud lineages.
Now here is where you will truly be astounded by the capability of the famous Pretty Boy Leif.
Tekla and Takoda were mated together as well – Incredible pups as a result. Note: *Luna* was a daughter of this pairing.
Next litter for Tekla was a mating with Pretty Boy Leif – Incredible pups were a result of that mating.
Pretty Boy Leif was then mated to Luna – the daughter of Tekla. Two generations he has now preserved.
Luna was then mated to Karu – Incredible pups were a result of that mating. Note: *Revna* was a daughter of this pairing.
Tekla was then mated to Karu – Incredible pups were a result of that mating. Note: *Varja* was a daughter of this pairing.
Pretty Boy Leif was then mated to Varja – Odin, a stunning male pup is on the ground now ( second time two generations preserved)
Pretty Boy Leif has just now been mated to Revna – She is due in early summer 2024 – This is the Third Generation of preservation of this bloodline by Pretty Boy Leif.
It takes a superior bloodline, genetic management, quality care and exercise of the breeding lines and planning to have a stud dog help preserve 3 generations of ancient lineage Norwegian Elkhounds. There literally are no other preservation breeders in North America and to showcase Pretty Boy Leif and his efforts and work to preserve the most ancient lineage of Norwegian Elkhounds that reside in Tekla, Varja, Luna, Revna is a great honor for me.
To have a stud that has worked successfully to preserve this genetic and to do exactly, and I mean precisely what he was brought in for, to be an outcross preservation sire, well it’s truly amazing to have him do it for 3 generations.
To see a breeding program come together that is decades in motion, but even more decades in planning/imagining, dreaming even before starting. Well, Wow, I am so excited about this litter with Revna and Pretty Boy Leif you can’t even imagine.

We will keep you posted on Revna and Michael will keep updates going for Odin. Make no mistake, Pretty Boy Leif has been important as a sire for Norwegian Elkhound Preservation. Incredible as this may sound, this is not the only Lineage of Kamia females he has been preserving, I’ll take moment soon to discuss his other line of great preservation work with the Kai, Tika, Rita, Letta, Willow, Sage, Lil Griz line.
