Decades from now these little pups will be legends and be talked about and remembered for centuries as the return and restoration of the bloodlines of all Elkhounds. The preservation efforts are in full swing now at Kamia Kennels and it’s such a wonderful feeling to have these rascals on the ground and doing so well.

These are true genetic preservation and genetic additions to the gene pool. No other breeder currently is adding genetics back into the gene pool and these little Full Bloods are incredibly important to the revival and rebirth of the entire genetic base. To have such awesome pups as the base is truly a miracle.

I have raised intensely good pups before and this group is really something for sure. As you all know I raised the father of this litter and the mother, the grand parents and more. We can see at 4 weeks the traits and behaviors all coming out. This is seriously good instincts all bred for centuries to flourish and they do.

It’s so immensely satisfying to witness at a very young age behaviors of handler focus, awareness, even little protection aspects all coming out of these young rascals. Genetic preservation is only one side as I have mentioned before, the Instinct preservation of the entire Elkhound spectrum is as important, if not more so. Instincts are incredibly hard to put in, genetics, not the same but still very difficult.

Preserving Instincts is THE MOST CRUCIAL aspect of preservation breeding. Watching, seeing, observing the instincts at incredibly young age is the absolute best way. There is no possible chance of it being training, or behavior modification as they are simply acting with what is in them, Instincts. So to be aware of instinctive behavior, watch for it, knowing it is transferred these are important times with the pups.

These pups have full instincts we know each parent passes full instincts as we have had this match up already. But it is so rewarding now to witness this depth again, we almost literally are seeing more now than the first time as we are now into a few litters of Full Bloods so understanding this a little better per se.

Full Bloods have not been around for 130-140 years, there is no one to talk to about it, we literally are going on our old stories, the back and forth with the master breeders and legends, but our lines are so close to Full Blood we have had more exposure to instincts than almost any breeder alive anyway.

For us, we know now that our Full Bloods are going to be carrying the entire spectrum of instincts, we also know they are incredibly diverse with intensely rich genetic material from the absolute best of the preservation bloodlines.

Instincts and Genetics, both preserved, enhanced in a way we are just starting to see, as even the Instinctive skill is improving with the additional genetic material combining together, more instinctive skill also is getting combined. It’s like maximum heterosis of the instincts not just genetics.

I am going to hold a female back from this pairing, ask all folks to keep the males intact that get them, even some females if possible should be retaining the ability to have a litter in the future, even though placed. We all can step up and help with the genetic rebuilding and more diversity is better.

Males carry just a slightly different genetic and instinctive aspect than females but it’s very difficult for us to keep all the males. However it’s easy for a new handler to keep his male intact, and they should of course keep males intact for health and all other aspects anyway. But it is very crucial in the early stages of preservation and restoration to have the depth of this profound litter in place for the future.
