In this short Desna Training clip I am working with Bella and Freyja at six weeks of age, both from my senior litters — Bella from Karia × Teeko and Freyja from Aurella × Posso. These are mature pairs now, and what is becoming totally visible is how their instinctive skill and passdown knowledge is increasing. The ability of these senior pairs to pass handler‑focus instincts is strengthening, and this video is one of the clearest examples yet.
It’s the first time these pups have ever been in the mountains. No prior exposure, no conditioning, no training sessions leading up to this. Yet the moment we step into the BC Rockies, both pups show pure instinctive skill — they come right along with me, stay tight, no wandering, no distraction, no hesitation. They read my movement, adjust instantly, and remain fully connected the entire time.
I had Varella with me, my Jamthund foundation female and grandmother to Freyja. She is always a stabilizing mentor, but what is so striking in this clip is how focused the pups are on me. Even with Varella present, their attention is locked on my movement. It’s incredible to witness.
What makes this even more meaningful is how peer‑reviewed it becomes. My clients, visitors, and viewers can see it for themselves. There is no interpretation needed — the instinctive handler focus is right there on display. People watching these videos can independently verify what I am seeing: the senior pairs are passing stronger instincts as they age, and the pups are showing it earlier and earlier.
