One of the most famed Norwegian Elkhound bloodlines in North America in the preservation and working lines is the Teeko bloodline and genetic. The vast depth of instinctive skill and handler focus in this particular lineage goes back thousands of years in Scandinavian countries. All Norwegian Elkhounds stem from this particular old Norrland blood and the genetics are ultra capable of passing instincts intact.

Passing Instinctive skill intact is crucial for the behavior and working traits to appear in the upcoming pups. The deeper the ability of the parents to pass instincts the better the pup is as it has all the handler focus, the behavior to work with the handler and to act predictably in all situations. Teeko and his background are the absolute best for this ability.

We are going to be mating him to none other than the stunningly beautiful Kaleva. As most of you know the pairing of Silver Nova and Karu yielded all truly incredible Norwegian Elkhounds. Kaleva was one of the daughters from that pairing we held back. She has had one litter.

What is truly unique about Kaleva is she is the result of the Preservation efforts of master breeders to work with us to have her available now to preserve the bloodline of Teeko. The efforts of Lillian, who bred the Norwegian Elkhounds for 25 plus years has now cemented her efforts into the preservation as she allowed us the beautiful Silver Nova to utilize her incredible background for preservation.

Silver Nova’s father and mother were both Champions in North America, however the level of achievement of Silver Nova’s father is only rivaled by a few select dogs as he is ranked at Number 6 All time record. He is one of only six Norwegian Elkhounds to achieve “Gold Standard” which is an incredible lifetime achievement. This particular lineage is unique to Kamia Kennels as Silver Nova is the only breeding female.

Having Kaleva carry this phenomenal legacy forward is truly amazing and even more so when we consider the father of Kaleva. No doubt there is not another import Norwegian Elkhound that has had as much impact as Karu. Karu was selected by Kari in Finland to be the mainstay of hunt genetics for the preservation of the Teeko bloodline. Karu comes from the very best in the Karelian district of master breeders to bring that incredible ability to ensure that all hunt aspects are cemented into the new pups.

We know already that all of the main Norwegian Elkhounds, Teeko, Karu, Silver Nova and Kaleva all pass instincts intact and all create truly legendary pups.

We have retained a male from Kaleva’s first litter she had with Pretty Boy Leif. Aksel is his name and he is developing into a phenomenal young stud dog. We will in the future utilize this male in our preservation efforts.

We will travel on the 17th to get Kaleva and bring her up for the mating. We are hoping she will cycle in the late part of September. Teeko has been waiting impatiently. Tammy is going to be traveling with Kaleva from Idaho the next couple days to bring her up.
