Jess and I had a great trip down to Fernie to get Kaleva, one of the top Norwegian Elkhound females there is. Tammy and Linda met us Fernie BC as she has been down at Tammy’s location in Idaho. She traveled over to Linda’s in Montana and the two co-breeders traveled up together.

It was a great visit and we had a lot to share back and forth. The beautiful Silver Nessa was traveling with us as she was going back to Idaho and so Tammy has her back there now. She is doing good and I have retained the stunning pup from Silver Nessa, little Silver Moon as preservation stock. Silver Nessa and Kaleva are both daughters of Silver Nova. The amazing big sister Kessa is also here and so Kaleva and Kessa are able to have a reunion of sorts, I’ll try to get them together as much as I can.

Jess and I really enjoyed our travel time with Kaleva. She is an excellent female to travel and she is a great hiking and companion Elkhound. I raised Kaleva, along with her sister Kessa of course and so it only took Kaleva a few minutes to get back into her routine with us.

Kaleva is a daughter of two of our incredible outcross imports, Silver Nova and Karu. Kaleva is quite easily at the very upper end of Norwegian Elkhound females for every aspect. She is incredibly diverse in genetics as the Karu genetic has never been in North America before. His background in Norwegian Elkhound hunting lines in Finland/Norway is incredible.

The Beautiful Silver Nova also is very unique as she is the only breeding female of an incredible matchup of the Champion Silver Princess and the Gold Standard Rock Star Armani. There are no other genetics in Canada of this combination so it’s a unique set in Kaleva.

We have decided to pair Kaleva up with Teeko this round. Last litter we used Pretty Boy Leif, we also retained a young male named Aksel as a stud dog from that litter. Using Teeko was our ultimate plan as Kaleva is the combination of years of planning to get the outcross bloodline to preserve the ancient Norrland background of Teeko. Teeko also carries of course as you all know the intense hunting genetics of the Norway Nordic Champions and also he carries the Ravenstone bloodlines.

There are no other Norwegian Elkhounds outside of Kamia Kennels currently that have as unique, as spectacular and as ancient as the genetics that will come from the match up of these two unique Norwegian Elkhounds, Kaleva and Teeko.

It’s an exciting time waiting for her to cycle now, she is in with Teeko and we are watching close for the hookup.

The calibre of the pups for handler focus, for instinct rich behavior, the impeccable style and conformation of the Norwegian Elkhounds that line the background will all be showcased in these pups.

Kaleva’s Grandfather on her mothers side was shown and judged and won in more shows than all but 5 Norwegian Elkhounds in North American history. He is ranked at Number 6 all time point Gold Standard Norwegian Elkhound.

Kaleva’s Grandmother on her fathers side is the incredible Rittu, she as well is extremely gifted and has been awarded a Championship in hunting Bear, a Championship in hunting Moose and also in Show. This is just two of the amazing dogs in this lineage. I could write for days on this combination of genetics.

Getting a pup from this combination is an opportunity to have one of the very best Norwegian Elkhound pups in the world today, and quite easily in the past 100 none would have been any better that what is coming.

We will retain a female and will ask the folks getting males to keep them intact as to preserve this incredible bloodline. This is a pure preservation bloodline, no known defects, it’s a flawless lineage on all sides. These will be super healthy, happy and excellent working and family companions. The hunt instincts, handler focus instincts, behaviors and aspects that make the Kamia Kennels Elkhounds so famous are all going to be present in these pups. There are no better handler focus dogs than Teeko and matching him up with Kaleva is profound.
