Karu is a Finnish born import, he was selected by the Master Breeders of Finland to be allowed to bring his genetic to North America for the very first time ever leaving the old country. He was selected as his impeccable genetic lineage of hunting champions goes back to the start of the Association and much further.

This is the height of genetic diversity for Norwegian Elkhound Breeder Kamia Kennels. A few years ago Norwegian Elkhound Stud Swix was flown over from Sweden to bring his incredible genetic lineage into North America. Swix also as does Karu carries a very diverse genetic to North American Norwegian Elkhounds and his lineage had not been out of the old country either.

Karu recently sired a litter with Aspen, who is a daughter of Swix. These pups are incredible and we are currently now expecting a litter from Willow with Karu as the sire.

Willow and Karu have had litters before. They are remarkable. Genetic diversity like Karu brings is extremely healthy for the long term of the Norwegian Elkhounds at Kamia Kennels. By utilizing genetics that are very distant, not related in anyway for hundreds of generations, or perhaps not ever, the pups are having the best possible chance for longevity and health.

Karu’s lineage is of the finest hunting Champions. He is working lineage, full hunt aspects intact. His ability to hand down these great instincts is also evident and easily spotted in his pups.

As a matter of fact Varja, one of his daughters is currently bred to Pretty Boy Leif, another import male Norwegian Elkhound for Kamia Kennels. She will be whelping in Feb of 2024. She will be having some of the very best Norwegian Elkhound grand pups for Karu ever.

Karu is a very personable Norwegian Elkhound. His handler focus is incredible. He passes this handler focus down to his pups. We are very proud of the ability of Karu to do so many things for the breed.
