Jess and I were able to travel to southern Alberta, Lethbridge area and overnight there with Merle. He is a magnificent traveler and is a great pal to have on the trails and areas we traveled through. We had a terrific time with Merle in southern Alberta.
Jess left early the next morning for Bozeman Montana, taking the Norwegian Elkhound stud Merle back home to meet up with John and his Mom in Bozeman. They had traveled up with the famous Norwegian Elkhound Daisy, the Norwegian Elkhound pal and best friend for Merle. Daisy is a daughter of Karu and Silver Nessa. She is a stunning female.
The trip on the way to Bozeman was awesome weather and a great day for Jess. She met up in Bozeman and had a great visit with John and his Mom and they all had a fun visit. Each then decided to travel onward, Jess returning to Lethbridge and John heading to Wyoming.
Now things got a whole lot wilder for Jess on the trip back to Lethbridge. A massive storm moved in and rain and heavy winds began, then it turned into a lightning fire starting wildman show. The entire prairie and grasslands of that Montana region were lit up. She literally had to drive right through the fire on the sides of the highway to make it through.
Strong winds blowing her around, heavy smoke, crazy blasts of rain, just an insane couple hours drive and finally after about 4 hours it settled out toward the Canadian Border. The good thing was John and his mom, Merle and Daisy were heading away from the fire and storm zone so they never had to tough a trip on that end. Thank goodness both of them were not caught in that.
So a huge Thank You to John for letting Merle come up to try to assist us with a second mating with Norwegian Elkhound Varja. We were unsuccessful yet with that, Varja did not cycle. Thank you John for coming back to Bozeman to meet Jess and pick Merle up.
Big Thanks to Jess for the great effort to travel all through Alberta, down to Bozeman, brave that firestorm and make it back, what a tough trip back, but she managed with no issues, she can handle things. No doubt!
So Merle is happy to be back hanging out with Daisy, they are best pals.

We will try another attempt at some point with Varja and Merle, but for now, we are waiting for her to cycle. We do not know if we get Merle back up this round, or next litter, but at some point this tremendous male will have a litter.
Again, big Thanks to everyone, John and his Mom also for helping handle and look after Merle when he was here and of course Jess for the big effort to get him to Bozeman.
I of course was literally just hanging out in Lethbridge while all this was going on, nice sunny day, sitting on a park bench drinking a coffee handling correspondence, planning the next phase of the journey over to the Fernie , Elko region to meet up with Linda as we were going to pick up Rita and Lil Griz. More on that story right away. Rita and Lil Griz are in the great state of Montana as well. Lots of Norwegian Elkhounds in Montana right now, all over the place. Great Kamia Elkhounds!
