It’s always fascinating for me to watch the young females that are from the Top Ranked Genetics when they are very young. At literally weeks of age they already know, and so do siblings, and other Elkhounds in the pack, that they are the supreme females!

Instincts are incredible and there is so much to them, I have been blessed to be able to witness more instinctive behavior than most breeders simply because I have full instinct dogs, but also of course I have a lot of Elkhounds. But not only numbers, but I have the serious upper end of instinct rich Elkhounds, the old working bloodlines. Nothing lost, all intact.

It’s not often you get to witness what I am about to show you in a video of the latest litter of Full Bloods. This litter of course is double sided female top rank lines. So instincts in this little female are crazy off the charts tough.

Her brother Murdock is going to give her tail a tug, she is in a tough spot behind a tree and can’t turn immediately, so she gets Cranky! Now, for those that don’t really have a good handle on top ranked females, they literally rule. What they say, basically goes. All males, except the top male, all have to give way, they step aside in a hurry too. Females, out of the way.

So this video is one of the very best to highlight instincts, as this is a trio of pups at 7 weeks of age, it’s all instinct at that age.

She is going to go after Murdock and let him know, never do that! Murdock he knows now, yikes, she is mean!

When you are restoring the Bloodline Elkhounds you need “ALL INSTINCTIVE” behaviors. All of them, this is a crucial instinct. Pack rank is one of THE MOST IMPORTANT and has been lost in literally all other lines. We cherish this instinctive skill.

6 Generations of Top Ranked females coming down one side, and Multiple down the other side. We are focused entirely in our breeding program to restore the Elkhound using our matriarch lineages and without all of the lines we have, these traits would not exist.

The ability to pass this down is crucial, to see it come down is also crucial. This particular video allows everyone to see it on full display.

I watch this little powerful female and I can’t help but see all of my past top ranked females in her, it’s like I see them all standing there. What a thing! Incredible.
