Revna’s Full Blood Elkhound Puppies Instinct Background.

Every single dog for generation after generation going back literally thousands of years are the highest quality and world renowned in instinct preservation, health, genetic diversity and skill level and one of the most unique instinctive skills, the matched pair instinct.

Revna and her daughter Ember

This is Revna and her daughter Ember from a previous litter, photo shows both roughly same age.

The photo below shows a very young Revna with her sister Sass. These two could have became one of the greatest matched pairs of Norwegian Elkhounds in history. At the time, we had already decided to place Sass with an existing client, and so Revna stayed on as a foundation female, Sass is living large with Harold and his family. Harold also has Pepper, a related genetic female Norwegian Elkhound from Kamia Kennels.

The photo below showcases the Mother of Revna, Luna in back, and Uncle MANE in front. These were two of the very best matched pair full sibling Norwegian Elkhounds ever to hike. The instinctive nature of the Elkhound is very, very pack oriented. These dogs love to run as pairs. Female and Female, or Male and Female it does not matter. Selected early, almost from birth the matched pairs from true old world lineages like the Norrland bloodlines, the Ravenstone, and the old world lineages we have at Kamia Kennels yield one of the most profound experiences for the handler.

This photo below showcases the Grandmother to Revna, mother to Luna. This is Tekla and her twin full sibling sister, Tuva. Magnificent Norwegian Elkhound females. They went on to become two of the most profound Norwegian Elkhound foundation females in North America. They both have contributed lasting long term preservation bloodline genetics for the Norwegian Elkhound pool. They also contribute immense contributions to the Full Blood Elkhound genetic restoration dogs.

Running preservation lineages it’s important that “All Instinctive Traits” come into play, none left behind. One of the most fascinating aspects of old world Elkhounds is of course the ability to run multiple Elkhounds as matched pairs. This instinct is not found often in lines, only certain breeders are even really aware of the capability and few if any work multiple dogs in remote terrain. Kamia Kennels is literally the premier matched pair breeder of Norwegian Elkhounds, Swedish Elkhounds and Full Blood Elkhounds. We literally test the instinctive skill passing down, generation by generation and showcase it so the folks can see the ability of these magnificent dogs to pass this feature down.

Below we showcase the amazing Tuva and Tekla as mature females out working. True matched pairs is like working one Elkhound. They function like a complete team at all times. Fascinating to work with.

What we have been able to witness in this particular lineage of Revna if we continue to trace back even further to the Great Grandmother of Revna, who would be the Great Great Grandmother of the pups is her incredible work ethic as a mentor and pack Elkhound.

Norwegian Elkhound Mother and Two daughters, all matched.

Running the mother of Tekla and Tuva as a trio was super rewarding. The instincts flourish as the pack animal instinct comes flying out. There literally is nothing quite like a trio of Norwegian Elkhounds all working as one unit. It’s truly one of the great gifts these dogs provide the handler. This instinct passes down, generation after generation in the Kamia Kennels preservation lines.

For many folks getting to see related genetic Norwegian Elkhounds showcasing natural matched pair instinctive ability is almost impossible. Kamia Kennels has one of the most unique set of bloodlines anywhere and we focus a fair bit on keeping this incredible trait alive and passed down.

If we step back up from Revna to pups sired by her grandfather, Takoda. We would be able to walk down another set of intense working matched pairs and we could find countless incredible sets. One of the most famous as all of you who follow our work know, Revna’s uncle and aunt , Jaegar and Tora are almost unmatched in capability.

We know from looking at related genetics, genetics that share background instincts are the best way to “insure” that instincts are passing in multiple lines. It showcases to folks that the pups are going to have the ability to carry these traits forward, but also to pass them down for future generations. This is a critical feature of the Full Blood Elkhounds, but also this is critical for the Norwegian Elkhound preservation lines also.

It was important for us to know and have the ability to physically test and work the matched pair instinctive skill on all sides of this Full Blood Elkhound genetic pool. As you know, Aina brings in the absolute greatest instinctive matched pair genes. Her contributions to this amazing skill in all Full Blood Elkhounds and Swedish Elkhounds will continue for centuries if managed correctly.

Shown below are the legends themselves, Ria, Aila and Raven. The incredible Trio of Swedish Elkhounds that were as far as I know, the very best remote terrain matched pair of Swedish Elkhounds in the last century probably.

The Trio of matched Swedish Elkhounds Ria, Aila and Raven.

As many of you who follow our program are well aware, we also test the next generation and the generation after that. This is the way to “Insure” the genetic passes down. It’s truly amazing to see the genetic pass down from other pups from Aina, and of course I am speaking the big fella himself, Big Daddy Ark. Ark is the father of the Full Blood Elkhounds that are in Montana nursing on Revna.

We already know beyond a shadow of a doubt his capability to pass instincts down is full bore!

Incredible matched pair of Swedish Elkhounds, Aurella and Hada.

As with Tekla and Tuva the ability to run with the mother as a matched pair was so clearly evident in Ark’s daugther Aurella and her daughter Hada. On many occasions I could not tell the difference and was not certain who was who, they were so closely matched. Fascinating really. Go ahead, tell me which is the mother, which the daughter, haha!

We can step back up above Revna a little and go down another related leg of genetics. Taking the incredible Jaegar and his bloodline down. His ability to sire matched pairs of Norwegian Elkhounds even if they were not in the same litter, and were matched with his father, but next was incredible. This is the true test of instinctive ability transfer when litter after litter has matched pairs, from different litters, but same pair of parents or the parent above with the same mother.

Dajr and Syn, truly stunning matched pair using same genetic, but different litter.

We can also step back to Tora, the aunt to Revna. Her sister Luna was the mother to Revna and because of the intense capability of Tora we can showcase many great matched pairs that she had. What this combination of matched pairs show is that it’s not just from the Norrland blood that can pass, but also it is enhanced and confirmed by using the Bram lineage from Norway. As you know, Bram was used only in Kamia Kennels on Tora and on Tekla’s mother. Tekla is a daughter of Bram of course.

Here is a set of matched siblings from Tora’s daughter, Kai. Kai is also a daughter of Bram. It’s amazing the depth of genetics that we can showcase going down many various legs of great genetics. This is Letta and Torq. Hiking with them is like one Norwegian Elkhound.

Letta and Torq, fully matched pair function as one unit, Norwegian Elkhounds.

We can come to the conclusion by following down the previous litter of Revna with ARCO, who is the son of Ark that this genetic combination of Full Bloods passes the matched pair instinctive so incredible it’s wild.

Consider the photo below, those are 4 of the absolute best Full Blood daughters in the world, all sibling sisters and this is the almost exact genetic of the existing litter. One level up for the sire, as Ark is the father of ARCO.

Is that some seriously beautiful quad group of Full Blood Elkhounds?
