Full Blood Elkhounds like these are New Genetic Material, meaning they are adding genetics to the gene pool. The Full Blood Elkhounds from Kamia Kennels are the only Elkhound pups that bring “New Genetics” into the pool of all Elkhound genetics in North America.

Linda does such an incredible job with these pups. They are handled and managed so well, easy to see they will be such great companion and working Elkhounds. They are stable and content, easy to work with. This is the best for the pups.

The history of these males goes back literally forever and they carry the oldest known bloodlines of the Elkhound. I have been working with the males in the background of this genetic for decades. I have a few selected images of the big boys in the background from over the years.

This image below is Rico, Jamthund Male, imported from Finland. He is with Russ and Beth in Seattle and he is a founding sire for the Jamthund gene pool and Full Blood Elkhound genetics restoration in North America. This is a phenomenal bloodline. He traces back to the original founding Elkhounds. Many of those pups in the video above will hold an uncanny resemblance to this big fella as he is the ancient lineage which will pull very strong in these Full Bloods. Handsome big boys they will all be.

Rico is the Grandfather to those males, he is Ark’s father!

The other Grandfather to these incredible males in the Revna and Ark Full Blood Elkhound litter is Karu.

Karu was also imported from Finland to be a foundation restoration male for the Norwegian Elkhound genetic pool as well as the contributing outcross Norwegian Elkhound Male for the Full Blood Elkhound restoration genetics.

Karu is the Father of Revna. He has deep hunting roots and history going back through the oldest Scandinavian Kennel Klub, the Finnish. He comes from the famous Karelian District of Finland, same as Rico did. This is the Premier hunting Elkhounds of the world in that region, they are all famous for Bear and Moose hunting. Champions line the back of both Karu and Rico. These two Grandfathers both have Triple Champion Elkhounds very close to the surface, with Rico’s Grandmother Feija, Triple Champion, and Karu’s Mother Triple Champion.

Karu was selected by the Master breeders for many factors but one of the main was his diverse genetics it as was Rico’s, never seen in North America before. He is one of the absolute best handler focused Elkhounds. So personable. Those pups exhibit this behavior, you can see it at a very early age.

Below I showcase an ancient male, countless generations back in Norway, Norwegian Elkhound Champion Rex. Beside him I showcase the Uncle to Revna, Norwegian Elkhound Teeko. He powers Revna even today, Decades between them. The males from Ark and Revna have many 50 years breeders in the background and of course the quality of that work of those old breeders shines through. We all owe a debt of immense gratitude to those early breeders for staying true and working to ensure diversity, instincts and handler focus was handed down.

Foundation restoration Norwegian Elkhound Males from the old lineages were carefully selected to bring forth all the absolute best in the Elkhounds so that the Full Blood Elkhounds carry all instinctive working traits. The next two males are simply two of the very best in history of Norwegian Elkhound males in Norway. Both this father and son are Nordic Champions. This lineage is legendary as it can work both off leash, but also on leash. It can work to hunt on long lead. Champion hunting dogs that can work, excel and win a Championship in hunting in three out of five of the Scandinavian countries receive the ultimate designation of Nordic Champion. A feat few achieve.

The Full Blood Elkhounds of Ark and Revna, they are very special as they have Nordic Champions on both sides, Revna brings these two incredible old world Norwegian Elkhounds and Ark as well brings one with him from the Swedish Elkhound side.

Ark bring Champion Swedish Elkhound after Champion Swedish Elkhound into those pups of his and Revna’s. The old boys that trace back to the foundation of the Swedish Elkhounds, the Jamthunds are all Champions.

This is his Grandfather, Nalli, a Champion Jamthund tracing back to foundation lineages. These dogs pull strong and will power lots of those big rascals with ancient instinctive skill and power. These are big boys, as are those pups.

Closer to home of course Ark brings forth all the genetic power of his entire background and combines that into one of the most profound Swedish Elkhound ( Jamthund) males to ever exist. He traces back to genetics that were long thought gone, but he carries them forth. He is instrumental in the Full Blood Elkhound restoration program and all those sons of his will be exceptional in all traits, all instincts pass with Ark. This is a seriously good Jamthund Male. The folks getting these boys are going to enjoy hiking the high country with them, just like I do with Ark.
