Kamia Kennels has a new litter planned of Norwegian Elkhound hunting dogs in the fall! Jess and I were out to pick up Odin from Lucinda a short while ago and he is here now with Varja.
Odin Returns for Stud Duty
Norwegian Elkhound Male Odin returns to Kamia Kennels for stud duty. He is a preservation bloodline Norwegian Elkhound
Lucinda has done an incredible job with Odin. He is a stunning Pretty Boy Leif and Vida pup and we are hoping for a mating with Varja, who is the famous Karu and Tekla daughter.
This lineage is one of the most profoundly recognized hunting lines of Norwegian Elkhounds in the world and quite frankly, also one of the absolute legend lines of recognized show Norwegian Elkhounds combined with the oldest known genetic lineage of Full Bloods. It’s a fascinating combination of preservation dogs in these two Norwegian Elkhounds.
Odin has been raised by Lucinda on the sun shine coast and he is essential to keeping all the livestock safe, the children and guests all love him. He is literally a therapy dog at the childrens camp and they all miss him so much.

Lucinda has actually lost some chickens since Odin is off the job while here, so she is fuming about the coyotes coming in, she wants Odin back. He is essential in protecting his flock of chickens and family.
Jess and I just loved our time to go out and get him. He is an incredibly well mannered and polite fella. Lucinda has trained him and fed him exactly as he was raised by me and so all his commands and behaviors, everything is just like he was at a little pup when I took him to Lucinda. Amazing really! Fascinating big male.
Jess loved to spend time giving him some roaming in the Alberta wilderness in the Rockies. We had great stops along the way at Mount Robson and also around the Jasper area. I had some opportunity to see Odin’s great character and behavior.
These males are magnificent companion dogs and Norwegian Elkhounds with the old blood lines are working dogs. So they make incredible farm, yard and watch dogs. This extends out to hunting and hiking.
There are many of the very best Norway bloodlines of Norwegian Elkhound hunting champions, two of them of course are Nordic Champions. We also have the incredible Finnish Bloodline Norwegian Elkhounds in there, with many triple and double champion hunting dogs in there, as Karu is the father of Varja. You have all the bear working lines of Vida, mother of Odin and then all the incredible genetics of Pretty Boy Leif.

What was cool was on our hike we came across a great Bull Elk grazing the trees and grasses in the Rockies. Very fitting to have this country to hike and roam in with this amazing wildlife. We saw so much game it was quite fascinating. Beautiful drive that route to get Odin and back.
If you are looking for an incredible pup, one of the best Norwegian Elkhound pups you could find, reach out to us and get on the list for a Varja pup. I am certain we will have a hookup in the next few days. Varja is flagging her tail now. Odin is all set. We had originally had Merle come up for a mating with Varja but she did not cycle at the time we expected. So we had to take Merle back to John and wait for Varja.
