The Importance Of Choosing The Right Dog

For a young aspiring woodsman and outdoor enthusiast choosing the right dog for this lifestyle is of critical importance. The first choice of a dog for this young handler has to be a dog bred for centuries to be the best handler focused remote terrain dog there is.

First Elkhound Quality Is Critical

It can not be understated how important it is to select the right breed, dog, and lineage for a new handler and woodsman.

This then sets up a lifetime of great adventures as the Elkhound is already instinctively bred to know exactly how to react and behave and operation in this lifestyle and allows the young handler the opportunity to work stress free and learn literally about the woods, but also learn how to work with a young dog with the easiest learning curve of all breeds.

The adventures become much better, the experiences are awesome, there is no frustrations, no bad experience, no way to lose the love for the adventure with a great Elkhound. Getting the wrong breed for a young adventure enthusiast can lead to such a nightmare. The wrong dog could be extremely unreceptive to this environment, could be a nightmare to train, making the experience with the dog such a trauma that literally all dog relationships later are not set up good. Same with the adventures in the woods. A bad dog can spoil the love of outdoors in a very short few hikes if it’s not geared and bred to work this environment. Nothing spoils an adventure faster than a dog that just is not suited to remote terrain and outdoor adventure.

But if you get the right dog and I mean a dog bred specifically for this exact scenario. A dog that is intuitive and comes with literally built in capabilities even the young handler would have no clue about but it makes his life a dream. The dog literally self trains the young handler and shows all the character and steps, the reactions are all great, everything is so enhanced.

The adventures now are automatically so awesome because the dog is so awesome, they both are a working team in no time and bonded and able to communicate in such a short time it’s truly amazing.

Watching the new handlers work with young fully instinctive handler focused pups is quite incredible. The little Elkhound he already knows what is expected of him and he can do it instinctively so the young handler doesn’t need any real dog handler skills other than to be a nice young fella who loves his dog. The dog will just love him back, focus on him, be around, be there always as support and there is no friction. It is so great. This way the young handler quickly becomes a great handler. With excellent skills as his dog and him work as a team. Having the right bloodlines and genetics makes this work so smooth, it’s critical to have the handler focus and instinctive skill in the pup.

I have place a great deal of Elkhounds and I will use Cash and his amazing Torq as a fine example of a young handler full of character and ethics, his integrity is sound and he possesses a great love for the outdoor lifestyle and his best pal Torq.

You could not believe the bond they have. It’s so incredible. I have had Cash out to hike the remote terrain with Torq as a very young pup, but after as well, over time to just cement in skills and bond building so this bond is sound for life. It can be done with the breeders involvement or without but it can not be underestimated how important the genetic selection and ultimately the pup selection is.

From this knowledge the breeder has to be able to set the pup up as well as best as could be accomplished, with of course our Desna training program the best in the world for this. This allows the true capabilities of the instinctive skill in the young pup to flourish and come to life using our mentor dogs and training program. By bringing the young handler right into the training program he also sees how the mentors work, watches his young pup, learns the concepts behind remote terrain dogs and much more.

The Kamia Kennels Elkhounds are the very best handler focused dogs in the world. Our lines are legends in remote terrain work. Some of our lines are thousands of years old. They have instinctive skill few dogs left possess. We breed for integrity of instinctive skill and genetic preservation and we know these lines. We have worked these lines for decades and generation after generation of these dogs. Understanding the capabilities and we know exactly which pups are suited to which situation.

Getting a Kamia Kennels pup from our best preservation genetics for a young new handler and adventure lifestyle is the absolute best option. There are no better breeds and no better lineages.

We have pups coming from these genetics and are excited about seeing more of our young handlers experiencing their best life with the new Kamia Elkhounds.

We want to Thank Cash and his family for trusting us with the selection of Torq and want to Thank Cash and his folks for the great life they give Torq. He is so well cared for and his life is literally the Best.
