A Legacy of True Norwegian Elkhounds
At Kamia Kennels, our dogs are the heart of everything we do. Each one represents generations of mountain‑bred instinct, steady temperament, and the classic working Elkhound character that has defined the breed for over a thousand years. These are not cosmetic, show‑ring dogs — they are real companions, real workers, and real family partners.
This page introduces the core females and males who form the foundation of our Full Blood and restoration program. Every dog listed here carries forward the traits we value most: loyalty, courage, intelligence, and the calm, confident presence that makes a true Elkhound.
Our Females
Our females are the backbone of the program — maternal strength, stability, and the deep bonding nature that defines the Kamia line.
Riatta
A classic Kamia female: steady, loyal, mountain‑tough, and deeply bonded. Riatta carries the heritage temperament we protect — gentle with family, bold on the trail, and rooted in strong Norrland Full Blood lineage.

Varja
Confident, athletic, and exceptionally intuitive. Varja brings a balanced temperament and strong working instincts, making her a cornerstone of our future generations. She is one of the oldest known genetic sets.

Revna
A powerful, intelligent female with tremendous presence. Revna represents the old‑world Elkhound type — durable, alert, and deeply connected to her people. Revna is the like to the Norrland Bloodline!
Silver Moon
Soft, affectionate, and incredibly people‑oriented, yet with the grit and stamina of a true mountain dog. Silver Moon adds warmth and steadiness to the maternal line. Her line is Norrland Bloodline also!
Our Males
Our males carry forward the strength, structure, and instinct that define the Kamia working dog.
Karu — Heritage, Authority, Full Blood Focus
Karu stands apart in our program — a Finnish‑born Norwegian Elkhound whose deep, old‑world genetics bring the kind of distance, strength, and purity that can only come from outside the modern North American gene pool. He is the anchor of our Full Blood reinforcement strategy, a dog whose lineage and temperament carry the unmistakable stamp of the true northern working Elkhound.

Posso – Jamthund Foundation Sire and Apex Sire For Full Blood Elkhound
Restoration‑Focused, Critical Male
As a Swedish/Jamthund reinforcement male, Posso plays a critical role in the restoration architecture. His genetics introduce controlled outcross strength, increased athletic capacity, and the structural power needed to support multi‑generation planning. He is one of the key males shaping the next phase of the Full Blood program.

Ark – Jamthund Sire, Foundation Lineage Full Blood Contributor
Ark is the first Jamthund ever born in North America, the foundational male who anchors the entire Kamia Jamthund lineage. Born from the elite pairing of Rico, the Finnish working male raised by Satu in one of Finland’s most prestigious kennels, and Aina, the first foundation female Jamthund imported to create the North American genetic pool, Ark carries the deepest hunting heritage available anywhere in the world. His instincts, intelligence, and mentorship ability flow directly from generations of true working dogs — the historic bear lines, the Nordic Champions, and the master‑selected Finnish bloodlines that shaped him. Ark is not only a remarkable male in his own right; he is the genetic cornerstone whose influence now spans multiple generations at Kamia.

Why Our Dogs Matter
Every dog at Kamia is part of a long‑term restoration architecture designed to preserve the true Norwegian Elkhound:
- Full Blood lineage protection
- Multi‑generation genetic planning
- Working‑dog temperament and instinct
- Mountain durability and structural integrity
- Deep bonding and family partnership traits
Our dogs are raised in real terrain, real weather, and real life — not kennels, not shows, not artificial environments. They live as companions, guardians, and partners, just as the breed was meant to.
