Norwegian Elkhound Male Teeko – Norrland Bloodline

Teeko is a direct link back to the ancient Norrland Elkhound bloodlines that came from the Northern areas of Sweden. The first time the Association put together a breed standard in Norway for the Norwegian Elkhounds they modeled if off a Norrland Region Elkhound. The region produced exceptional hunting and working Elkhounds.

They are still today one of the most sought after Elkhound lineages in the world and one of the rarest as time has all but erased most of the old lines. Preservation breeders like us still carry the genetic lines forward using the old world principles of breeding genetic lineages. The only way to keep diversity and to preserve these ancient working lines is through those principles.

Kamia Kennels is one of the last places left to breed these ancient Elkhound lineages. Working and full instinct males like Teeko are not found very often and in North America it is almost impossible to find the big Norrland bloodlines anywhere but in our program.

Revna, she is a niece of Teeko, she looks just like him, they both feature the dark color patterns, it’s my favorite for sure. The Black/Silver combination is one of the six that Elkhounds feature and they are very striking Elkhounds.

Interesting thing about Revna is she is a Luna and Karu daughter and of course that ancient lineage of Norwegian Elkhounds that founded the main dogs in the old Associations flows through Karu. Soon as he was mated to these old Norrland bloodlines the dark pups just came out, Revna is one of them. Karu he can trace back thru the Finnish Kennel Klub which is the oldest, back to the Norway Kennel Klub.

Teeko is one of the best off leash working lines left in the world. Very few lineages anywhere are specifically bred to retain the old off leash capabilities, but we still maintain that aspect here in our lines.

Preservation breeding requires Elkhounds with all known traits so that those traits can be carried forward. The instinctive ability to work with the handler off leash is one of the most important traits of the ancient Elkhounds. These are fearless companions they love to work and it’s important we carry that working trait forward in the new pups and litters. Revna is a prime example of that instinctive ability as she is a full off leash warrior and her pups are incredible as well.

Teeko’s father was the famous Takoda, who sired a vast amount of breeding seedstock and off spring from that great male traces forward to all our current pups and litters.

Revna is in Montana right now with a litter of these ancient lines and those pups trace back to Takoda and of course they trace back to Rico, the father of Ark. Ark is the sire of the Revna litter, but what’s fascinating about Takoda and Teeko is they are both trace back to the old Norrland regions.

Ancient working big males like Teeko carry genetics that are almost impossible to get anywhere anymore and to have these big males passing down instinctive skills, traits and behaviors is crucial to the survival of the Norwegian Elkhound breed.

We will be utilizing Teeko again this spring with some of our foundation females and working to continue this ancient genetic. Revna is cementing in our foundation line right now in Montana and her contribution to the restoration of the breed is as important as Teeko’s.

Vaeda is also a Niece of Teeko and her recent litter just prior to Revna’s was incredible as she was mated to ARCO who is a Grandson of Rico. We have retained a tremendous young female Nisse, she is from the Vaeda and ARCO litter and is with Linda right now. Nisse traces back of course to Takoda as well to Rico, you’ll note the ability of this bloodline to stay true. Check out this incredible young Full Blood Female.

We are about to witness a milestone from this Norrland Elkhound genetic lineage as well soon as Kaley is soon to whelp. She also is going to produce ancient preservation lineage pups that trace back on both sides to those big old Norrland Elkhounds. This is also a great great niece of Teeko and Kaley will produce 6th Generation pups in our working lines.

Kaley Norwegian Elkhound preservation lineage about to whelp 6th generation pups

Yes, 6th generation. Pretty incredible. Teeko is keeping the perimeter safe and Karu gives him assistance. Ark and his son ARCO also keep it safe for Kaley.

Karu is the father of Kaley’s mother, Rita. Pretty Boy Leif the famous outcross Norwegian Elkhound male is the father to Kaley. The pups coming in a few days from Kaley are genetically tied back on both sides of the litter to the very best of the worlds ancient bloodlines. It’s going to be an incredible litter of pups.

I have everything all set for her to whelp and Teeko will be watching the perimeter for me, as well so will Ark. Those boys are intense working big fellas.

The pups from Revna and Kaley are going to be some of our finest efforts in preservation breeding. Both litters are Full Blood Elkhounds with maximum instinctive capabilities, maximum health aspects with extremely diverse genetic backgrounds for restoration of the breed. Big males like Teeko are going to show up in both litters. Best traits, instincts and handler focus you can find on the planet is inside all the litter pups from both. If your looking for a great pup now is the time.
