Happy Ending To A Difficult Story For Gustaf

A few years back I raised an incredible litter from Letta and Leif and there were some awesome males in that litter. You may recall the videos of my doing the Desna with those four brother, Zeus, Titan, Gustaf and Kobe. I get regular updates on these magnificent boys.

Gustaf hikes the mountains with Zach

A great feel good story. Zach has now a brand new companion, Gustaf to hike the mountains with, So Awesome!

A fair bit ago the family that had Gustaf had a tragedy occur in the family and it was a very difficult situation for them and they reached out to me to help place Gustaf in a new home. They felt it would be best as they would not have the ability to properly care for him.

It’s not often but we have had to rehome some pups before and it has always worked out well in the end. I assured the family I would do my best to rehome Gustaf. He was in the USA so it did present some challenges.

As time went by Gustaf was eventually placed with Liz, the manager of the River Bluff Humane Society in Red Wing MN. With her help to accommodate me and work with me she kept Gustaf there for me while I arranged a new home.

Fortunately last fall a young gentleman had came through from Alaska heading to Utah. His name is Zach and he is a rugged outdoorsman, does hiking, climbing, rock climbing trips all over the world and is basically living the dream life out and about with his career in outdoors work. He had wanted a new pup this spring.

I presented the idea of Gustaf to Zach as an alternative to a new pup as Gustaf was already skilled, all settled as a full grown male and would make an ideal companion for him. Sure Gustaf would need some refresher courses in the Desna program but he was fully skilled and capable and I asked if he would work with him.

He agreed, his friends made a huge effort to assist in getting Gustaf from Minnesota to Utah. Traveling with Gustaf and bringing him to his new home. Awesome Work.

Now Gustaf is living a wonderful outdoor life with a new handler, his previous family can rest easy, they know now that Gustaf is loved and in a great new place. All our blessings to the previous family for the care and love they gave Gustaf in his early formative years, his care is evident, he is a wonderful male.

A big Thank you to Liz at the Red Wing location for working with me, hats off to her, great job she did. Also many Thanks to those pals of Zach, good work all of you, Wow! So great to see so many step up.

I also have to add that many of my dog owners also worked to help place Gustaf, John down in IL worked a lot on assisting me, he has Daisy and Merle. Thank you to all!

Of course, Huge Thank you to Zach, way to go Buddy, I so appreciate this. You have a great life long companion, you are the right owner for this rascal and on your way back through to Alaska, be sure to stop in and I can visit with you and Gustaf! Keep us all posted on your adventures with Gustaf and your fun adventurous life!

What a great thing the network of dog owners and dog lovers is. Awesome!
