The big boy himself, Rico is 9 years old today. He is the foundation male for the Jamthunds in North America and he has been instrumental in establishing the genetic pool to start the Jamthunds off in North America.

This is a phenomenal big fella owned by Beth and Russ in Washington State and he is so well loved and cared for it’s amazing. I have been blessed to have Russ and Beth working with me as co-breeders for this past many years and helping to achieve the amazing milestones we have with the Jamthunds.

Rico of course is from the famous Satu Kennel in Finland, my friend Satu was also instrumental in getting Aina organized for us so that I could go get her from Master Breeder Ossi. He and Satu are Master breeders and have amazing genetics.

Rico and Aina had some of the very best Swedish Elkhounds ever, with the famous Ark the first son they had.

Many more litters came from that combination of genetics and we are actually hoping that a famous daughter of Aina and Posso, her name is Tellu, that she might still be able to have a mating with Rico to get another genetic set of great dogs going.

I have many great memories of Rico visiting and us working the mountains as pals. He was always good to work with and Russ and Beth were incredible to assist me in development of the gene pool. They have one of the fabulous daughters of Rico and Aina there as well, Xena. An amazing female.
