Aurella × Posso — Summer 2026 Full Jamthund Pairing
The Jamthund program at Kamia moves into its third generation this summer with a pairing that represents the deepest continuity of the Finnish hunting-line Jamthunds we steward in North America. Aurella, daughter of Ark and Varella, and granddaughter of Aina and Rico, stands today as one of the most complete Jamthund females we have ever raised. She is a bear‑expert, a perimeter specialist, and a natural guardian with the geographic intelligence that defines the old Karelian District working dogs.
Her partner in our Pair‑for‑Life breeding strategy is Posso, the Finnish import who arrived alongside Varella and has proven himself to be one of the most influential Jamthund males in the North American restoration. Posso carries the full hunting-line heritage from Karelian District Finland—calm, calculating, powerful, and deeply bonded to his people. His contribution to the Jamthund Return has already been significant, and this pairing with Aurella is the next major step in the long-term architecture of the breed.
Aurella — Third Generation Jamthund Excellence
Aurella is the product of three generations of intentional Jamthund development at Kamia:
- Sire: Ark — the territorial master, son of Aina and Rico, and one of the most geographically aware males we have ever worked with.
- Dam: Varella — imported from Finland, a cornerstone female whose instincts, stamina, and working intelligence set the standard for the Jamthund females that followed.
- Grandparents: Aina and Rico — the original Finnish Jamthund pair whose genetics form the foundation of the North American Jamthund pool.
Aurella is a bear mover, a dog who does not posture or bluff. She reads terrain, she reads wind, and she reads the intentions of wildlife with the same clarity her ancestors were selected for. When a bear enters camp, Aurella does not hesitate—she executes. She and Nyra recently worked together to push a bear out of camp in the dark, maintaining perimeter until morning. This is not trained behavior. This is inherited working intelligence.
She is physically powerful, mentally stable, and emotionally bonded—exactly the type of female required to carry the Jamthund forward.
Posso — Finnish Hunting-Line Power
Posso arrived from Finland at the same time as Varella, and the two represent the strongest Jamthund importation in modern North America. Posso is:
- A full hunting-line Jamthund from Karelian Finland
- A male with deep instinct, calm confidence, and exceptional situational awareness
- A proven sire whose offspring consistently show the old-world Jamthund traits: grit, courage, and loyalty
Posso’s temperament is one of his greatest strengths. He is steady, reliable, and deeply connected to his handler. His working drive is high, but his mind is cool—exactly what is required in a breed designed to face large predators.
The Pair‑for‑Life Strategy
Aurella and Posso are not a one‑off pairing. They are a Pair‑for‑Life, a cornerstone strategy in the Jamthund restoration program. This approach:
- Preserves genetic continuity
- Strengthens the working-line identity
- Builds multi‑generation predictability
- Produces consistent, stable, high‑integrity Jamthund offspring
This is the same strategy used historically in the northern regions where these dogs originated. It is the strategy that built the Jamthund into a reliable, purpose‑bred working dog.

What to Expect From the Aurella × Posso Litter
This summer’s litter will represent the third generation of Kamia Jamthunds, and the traits we expect are clear:
- High predator awareness
- Strong territorial instincts
- Exceptional geographic intelligence
- Calm, confident working minds
- Deep family bonding and loyalty
- Balanced structure with powerful movement
These pups will be ideal for families who understand the northern working breeds and who value a dog with real purpose, real instinct, and real capability.

A Foundational Litter for the Jamthund Return
The Aurella × Posso litter is not simply another breeding. It is a continuation of the original Finnish Jamthund line brought to North America through Aina, Rico, Varella, and Posso. It is the next step in a restoration program designed to preserve the authentic Jamthund—uncompromised, unmodified, and true to its heritage.
This litter will be placed with Stewardship families who are committed to the long-term preservation of the breed and who understand the responsibility of raising a working-line northern dog.
We expect the mating this summer, with pups arriving shortly after.
