I imported Varella from Finland a few years back and she has proven to be one of the most influential females in North America as she is only 1 of two females imported. She is providing the basis for the seedstock of all the Jämthunds along with Aina, our first Import.

Varella we call her “Ella” for short, is from an intense lineage of the best hunting Swedish Elkhounds in Scandinavia. Her ancestors of course are foundation lineages and she can trace back to the start of the founding dogs that were assembled from the great greys of the time around that 1926 time frame.

Remember, all the big greys go back much further in time, dating back to archeological digs placed 10,000 years beside the Vikings. These are phenomenal dogs and Ella is a true testament to what is known as the oldest known family and working dog.

Varella has been mated to Ark twice now, both times the pups are incredible. Her famous daughter, Aurella was of course held back for our breeding program. She to has grown into an amazing female and will impact the Jämthunds in a very positive way. She was recently mated to Posso our Finnish Import stud and we have had an incredible litter from her.

In the next few months, Varella’s son, the Magnificent ARCO will be having more litters.

We are also blessed to have two of the daughters come this weekend home of the Aurella/Posso litter. So it’s like a family reunion of sorts. Of course you may have not heard, but I’ll share this fun detail, my Mentor female Aila, the best pal to Varella is coming back home to assist me to train ARCO and the others.

Aila is a full Jamthund female, full sister to Ark. So she will give me valuable assistance in training, she is most likely the most skilled mentor dog in the world and I am happy to have her help.

Varella is going to cycle in the spring and we are planning our next mating. I have a recent video of Varella for you below.
